Aspect ratio
Also called: 9:16, 16:9, 1:1
The width-to-height shape of a video — 9:16 vertical for shorts, 16:9 wide for YouTube.
Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between a video's width and height. Short-form platforms are built for 9:16 vertical, which fills a phone screen; traditional YouTube and most cameras shoot 16:9 widescreen; 1:1 square sits in between and works across feeds.
Turning a 16:9 recording into a 9:16 clip means more than cropping the sides — the subject has to stay framed as the action moves. Smart reframing tracks the active speaker or focal point so nobody's face drifts off the edge.
