Yes. Upload the MP3 or WAV you downloaded, no video needed. If the file has cover art, Nova uses it as the picture; if not, a dark backdrop (with the song title, when the file carries one). Nova finds the strongest sections and captions the lyrics. Song videos work too.
How does Nova choose which part of the song to use?
It transcribes the lyrics and measures audio energy across the track, then ranks sections by how strong a hook they make. You get several options to choose from, not one guess.
Will it cut out the instrumental parts?
No. For a talking video Nova trims pauses between words, but on a song those pauses are the music, so song uploads keep every bar of the section it picks.
